The person behind POP-A-DING

Hi, I’m Chad Yzaguirre.

Houston roots. An artist’s eye. A lifelong appreciation for what careful hands can do.

A lifetime of looking closer at the finish

An artist who works in metal.

Paintless dent repair isn’t a trick — it’s a craft with a feel for metal that takes years to build. Chad has been into art most of his life, mainly drawing and oil painting, and he approaches every damaged panel the same way a sculptor approaches stone: the shape was always there. His job is to bring it back.

That combination — an artist’s patience and a craftsman’s hands — is what makes a repair look like it never happened.

The road here

From a dented Excel
to a master’s workshop.

High School

A dent-covered Excel

I grew up in the Spring area of Houston. My first car in high school was a used, four-door Hyundai Excel. It came riddled with dents — the equivalent of hail damage, but in door dings. Then my cousin, one of the first people in Houston doing paintless dent repair, glassed those panels out in one day for a reasonable price. I was amazed.

College Years

The memory that stuck

In my twenties, while going to college for business, that memory came back to me. I reached out to my cousin looking for training and a job, but he was too busy at the time. Maybe he also knew how difficult the craft was, and wasn’t yet sure how serious I was.

California

Learning the hard way

So I found a school in California and embarked on the journey alone. I didn’t know what I was getting into. Paintless dent repair is an extremely difficult art to learn — and I do consider it an art.

Back Home

The apprenticeship

I got certified in California, but still had a lot to learn. Once my cousin realized how serious I was, he took me under his wing. I learned a great deal during that apprenticeship from a master.

Early Career

Dealerships & a storefront

I started out working at dealerships, like most people do. But early on, I opened my retail location on Stuebner-Airline and fell in love with the personal customer service a retail location requires.

Today

POP-A-DING, at the shop

About eight years ago, I moved the shop to my property. Here, I can better focus on what matters to me: personal service and quality repairs. Your vehicle, my attention, and pride in the finished work.

“This is sculpture. But instead of creating something new, you are recreating how the metal was before the dent.”

— Chad Yzaguirre

The way he thinks about the work

Recreating what
was always there.

Years of drawing and oil painting trained Chad’s eye for contour, reflection, and light. Working metal gave that same love of detail a different form. Where a body shop covers damage with filler and fresh paint, paintless dent repair reads the reflections on a panel and patiently coaxes the metal back to its original shape.

That’s the difference you see in the light — and why the original finish is always worth protecting.
